Hamilton-Mercer REACT Hamilton-Mercer REACT (HMR) is a volunteer, non-profit organization that promotes highway safety and provides emergency communications during times of disaster and local need. Hamilton-Mercer REACT is a member of the Garden State Council of REACT Teams and is chartered by REACT International.
Hamilton-Mercer REACT also
supplies communications for various events such as Run-a-Thons, Fairs, and Parades.
Various Team functions include: Hamilton Septemberfest-Fireworks/Concert and Fair, Fourth
of July Fireworks/Concert, March of Dimes Walk, Bike Tours - Project Freedom, Princeton
Freewheelers, MS and others, Red Cross Disaster Drills, Emergency Management Disaster
Drills, Memorial Day and Labor Day Highway Safety Breaks, and other similar events.
Hamilton-Mercer REACT also works closely with local agencies
such as the Hamilton Township Police Department, Mercer County Office of Emergency
Management, Red Cross and Delaware Valley Radio Association. Hamilton-Mercer REACT was formed to
satisfy the growing need for a REACT Team due to the growing
population and location of several major highways and interstate highways in the Hamilton
Township area. Hamilton-Mercer REACT's base headquarters
contains CB, UHF,
and Amateur 2 meter radios as well as cellular capabilities. HMR also maintains
is own GMRS repeater strategically located in Mercer county. The Team's Mobile Command Post has the same
capabilities as the Team's base. The Team's UHF radios are available for member's use at Team events.
We
will train new members in radio procedures if necessary. Advance knowledge of
radios is not necessary.
